The European Union has summoned the Chinese ambassador following an incident in which China's military allegedly targeted a German aircraft with a laser during an EU security mission in the Red Sea. China has denied the accusation.

Germany said its aircraft was in the middle of a routine flight in support of the European Union's counter-Houthi mission.

Top officials said the Trump administration will use executive action and work with state officials to ban sales of farmland nationwide to buyers tied to China and other foreign adversaries.

US agriculture secretary Brooke Rollins on Tuesday said the administration would work with state and local governments to take “swift legislative and executive action to ban the purchase of American farmland by Chinese nationals and other foreign adversaries”.
