It doesn't rank nearly as "cool" or visually stunning as a total solar eclipse, but a total lunar eclipse is still a very fun and easy-to-view event. Tonight's lunar eclipse of the Worm Moon is positioned perfectly across the United States allowing for nearly everyone to get a view.

Thursday night into early Friday morning was the first of two celestial features this March, with a full “blood moon” lunar eclipse being visible in the night sky. Between 2:26 a.m. to 3:31 a.m. ET the eclipse was at its peak for viewing in New England.

Stargazers who looked up at the sky last night and early this morning might have spotted the March 2025 "Blood Moon," a total lunar eclipse that colored the moon in shades of red, orange and yellow. March's full moon is called the "Worm Moon,
