To DeBose's credit in Love Hurts, she tries to make the most out of a character who is a clumsy amalgamation of clichés pulled from film noir, blaxploitation flicks, and gangster movies.

“Love Hurts,” a Universal Pictures release in theaters Friday, is rated R by the Motion Picture Association for “strong, bloody violence and language throughout.” Running time: 83 minutes.

Another recent Oscar winner, Ariana DeBose (West Side Story), follows a pair of duds in Argylle and Kraven the Hunter with, well, another dud which has been getting its ass handed to it by critics.

The Love Hurts cast also includes Marshawn Lynch, Cam Gigandet, Daniel Wu, Mustafa Shakir, Lio Tipton, and Sean Astin. Per Deadline, Love Hurts is set to make its streaming debut on Peacock on May 9.
