Now, Maple Leafs star forward William Nylander is mulling a quick return to the ice, potentially joining Team Sweden for the World Championships. TSN’s Chris Johnston reported the news on Tuesday.

But just in case there were any doubters left, he made sure to silence them in 2024-25. How the year went William Nylander’s first season under Craig Berube went off without a hitch.

Nylander has seven years left on his eight-year, $92 million deal with the Maple Leafs. He also has a no-movement clause, so he would need to agree to be traded.

Nylander isn’t known for his 200-foot game, and he’s never received a vote for the Selke. That could be exposed this season, especially when Leafs fans are used to seeing a player who can do that.
