More than 80 years after he was killed in action during one of the fiercest early battles of World War II, U.S. Marine Corps Pfc. Pvt. Charmning Rowe has finally returned home to Orlando, Fla.
The final entry in the wartime diary of Marine Sgt. Leo “Bull” McDermott was written Aug. 7, 1942, the same day Marines of the 1st Division landed on Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands.
