Louisiana’s top health officials say public trust in medicine plummeted due to COVID missteps and that government should stop pushing vaccines. They argue public health must shift focus to chronic disease and medical autonomy.

A rapid rise in and around rural Gaines County on the border with New Mexico has seen 14 confirmed and six probable cases.

Nine of those infected were hospitalized and more cases are likely, health authorities said. U.S. vaccination rates for measles are falling, according to the CDC.
