MINNEAPOLIS — Cold will take over the Twin Cities on Monday, and there's a slight chance for some light snow. A cold front will bring temperatures well below normal, with the metro seeing highs in the mid-teens. A few flakes could fly in the afternoon.

After January closed with record-breaking warmth, the other shoe is about to drop. A windy Thursday ushered in much colder air, setting the stage for substantial snowfall Friday night into Saturday for the metro and much of central Minnesota,

As things stand, the National Weather Service has the Twin Cities metro in the range of receiving 5-10 inches of snow, which is expected to start early Saturday morning and continue through mid-afternoon.
