Tallulah Bankhead, born in Huntsville, Ala., Jan. 31, 1902, was often referred to simply as “Tallulah” in news accounts during her heyday, becoming one of the first one-name celebrities.
Turner’s “Tallulah” is the most traditional star vehicle; it is set in Bankhead’s lush, lavender-colored bedroom on a day in 1948 when she is about to play host at a political fund-raiser.
