Ohtani hasn't pitched since the 2023 campaign after undergoing surgery, but he was still able to play at designated hitter for the Dodgers in his first season with them last year. Ohtani ended up posting a .310 batting average with 54 home runs and 130 runs batted in, winning his third MVP Award, so it's safe to say things went quite well.
The defending champion Dodgers are still a machine, as they proved in their dominant 8-0 run to open the season. But as they've entered the loss column, they haven't managed to reliably outhit some early season sloppiness.
