The Scottish government has struck deals with the Greens and Lib Dems to ensure that its Budget plans will be approved. Finance Secretary Shona Robison said she would table a series of amendments to the Budget Bill after the two parties agreed to support the tax and spending plans.

The party leaders, along with Scottish Social Justice Secretary Shirley-Anne Somerville, have sent a letter to the Prime Minister.

Deals agreed with the two parties to ease the path of the Budget will cost the Scottish Government £16.7 million.

The Scottish Greens will back the Government’s budget, the party has announced, making it near-certain the plans will pass. The party said on Tuesday it would back the budget after securing a regional trial of a £2 cap on bus fares and the expansion of free school meals to pupils in the first three years of secondary school who are in receipt of the Scottish Child Payment.
