(JTA) — More than 70 letters from Jews saved from the Nazis by German businessman Oskar Schindler will be auctioned off. Lawrences Auctioneers of England will be handling the Dec. 8 sale.

Oskar Schindler is a vain and greedy German businessman who becomes an unlikely humanitarian amid the barbaric German Nazi reign when he feels compelled to turn his factory into a refuge for Jews.

Emilie Schindler. A heroine, forgotten by history, who fearlessly saved Jewish lives. The name of her husband Oskar Schindler became synonymous with acts of compassion and humanity in the Nazi era.
