The 22,000 bird and mammal specimens found at the museum are historic physical records that show where and when an animal lived. Museum curator Angela Hornsby showed NBC Montana all over the museum.

The Montana findings were announced because of a federal commitment to make information from national bird-flu surveillance public even if it is not cause for concern, the agency said.
