In July, an additional 57 campuses spanning almost all feeder patterns in the district opted into the program as NES-Aligned schools. NES-Aligned schools have a scaled-back version of the reforms.

While Fleming Middle School is currently the focus of the NES initiative, Adams emphasizes that students across the district, even in the best-performing schools, face academic challenges.

In 2023, 106 students were tested in reading. Of these, 18% met the test standard, and 5% mastered the content. In 2024, the number of students tested increased slightly to 108.
