Utah lawmakers are crafting legislation that would make it easier to sell factory-built homes, known as modular or prefabricated housing, in the state.

According to a 2023 legislative audit, Utah needs to build 28,000 homes per year to keep pace with growth. Utah’s current housing shortage is estimated to exceed 37,000 units.
