Intermodal shipping capabilities at the International Marine Terminal in Portland will receive a boost from a $4.1 million grant awarded Friday by the federal Maritime Administration.
The U.S. Department of Transportation Maritime Administration is awarding $4.1 million to improve the International Marine Terminal in Portland Harbor, U.S. Sen. Susan Collins said Friday.
Today, Merrill's Marine Terminal on the west end of the waterfront receives about 90 ships a year, primarily exporting scrap metal and wood pulp worldwide and importing newsprint from Newfoundland.
