Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 abruptly swerved off its planned route, travelling thousands of miles off course over the southern Indian Ocean for roughly five hours before disappearing.

March 21, 2014 -- Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 took off from Kuala Lumpur on the morning of March 8, but lost contact with air traffic control an hour later and disappeared off the radar.

Flight MH370, a Boeing 777 aircraft carrying 239 people including 12 crew members, vanished from radar screens on March 8, 2014, while it was traveling from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Beijing, China.
