Unlike Jocassee, the companion lake to the north that submerged trees when it was filled about three years later, Keowee’s bed was the subject of a massive deforestation between 1965 and 1967.

That price increase was powered in part by sales on Lake Keowee, which shattered price records in 2022, and made up for in appreciation what it lacked in volume.
