The death toll from a landslide at a vast garbage dump in Uganda’s capital Kampala has risen to 17, a Red Cross official said on Sunday, as rescue workers continued to dig for survivors.

Uganda has had multiple Ebola outbreaks, including one in 2000 that killed hundreds. A 2014-16 Ebola outbreak in West Africa killed more than 11,000 people, the disease's largest death toll.

KAMPALA, Sept 3 (Reuters) - Police in Uganda said on Sunday they had detained a 28-year-old man entering a church in the capital Kampala with an explosive device he planned to use for an attack there.
