The United Nations has said it will "reduce its footprint" in the Gaza Strip after an Israeli tank strike hit one of its compounds last week, killing one staffer and wounding five others.

The Israeli military has ordered the evacuation of parts of Gaza City as it steps up its renewed offensive against Hamas.

Following the end of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, Israeli military launched attacks in southern Gaza and claimed to have killed a senior Hamas official. Israel also attacked Hezbollah in Lebanon in a retaliation for a rocket attack.

Israel says ground operations in Gaza are underway after airstrikes killed over 400 Palestinians, breaking the ceasefire set in January.

Three hospitals in the Gaza Strip say at least 85 Palestinians were killed by Israeli airstrikes on several homes across the war torn territory.

Israel has vowed to increase military pressure until the militants return the remaining 59 hostages — 24 of whom are believed to be alive. Israel has also demanded that Hamas disarm and send its leaders into exile. Hamas has said it will not release the remaining hostages without a lasting ceasefire and full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.
