In 2024, the state recorded 199 license sales for non-resident firearms hunting and inland fishing permits. That number is up from 2023, when there were 189 non-resident combined license sales.

The same annual combination fishing license will cost nonresidents $170, and the same big -game license costs more than $1,300. Fees for hunting and fishing licenses hadn't risen since 2011.

Whitmer's budget proposes raising an extra $28.9 million by hiking hunting, fishing and watercraft fees. But getting details has been difficult.

Under the law, an annual resident combination fishing license will now cost $62.79. A big game hunting license that includes deer, elk, bear and cougar tags would cost a resident $117.30.
