Hunt: Showdown and Crysis developers Crytek are dismissing an estimated 15 percent of their workforce - around 60

Crytek's round of layoffs are the latest in a long line of staff cuts, studio closures, and project cancellations in the last year or two. Big companies like Microsoft, Sony, and Take-Two have been affected, alongside plenty of smaller studios.

Crysis 4 has been put "on hold", developer Crytek has announced, as it becomes the latest in the ever-growing line of games companies to push the big layoffs button. It's let go an estimated 15% of its 400 staff, meaning in the region of 60 people are affected.

Of its 400 total employees, Crytek will be cutting around 60 of its staff as it tries to shift as much of its talent as possible over to Hunt: Showdown 1896.

Crytek is making lay offs and confirms that Crysis 4 has been put "on hold." The developers best known for making the first Far Cry, Crysis, Ryse: Son of Rome, Hunt: Showdown, and game dev tool CryEngine announced the news in a social media post earlier today,

German studio Crytek confirms the upcoming Crysis 4 title has been put on hold, while the developer actions a wave of layoffs.

On the bright side (for games), Crytek stopped short of saying Crysis 4 is cancelled, so there's that. But with development the focus shifting elsewhere combined with a big round of layoffs, who knows what the future holds for the next Crysis game.
