The leaders of Cambodia and Thailand have agreed to meet to negotiate a ceasefire, according to a social media post by United States President Donald Trump on Saturday.
SINGAPORE—The Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) has deployed two Saab JAS 39C/D Gripens alongside a pair of Lockheed Martin F-16A/Bs to conduct precision air strikes against Cambodian military targets, as armed clashes along the border enter a third day.
The first talks since clashes began on July 24 come within 48 hours of the US president saying Thai and Cambodian leaders had agreed to “quickly work out a ceasefire”.
Thailand and Cambodia pounded each other with heavy artillery fire for a third day on Saturday, as a border conflict that has killed at least 33 people and displaced more than 150,000 from their homes spread across the contested frontier.
