A local elementary school teacher is facing criminal charges after State Police say she hit a student during school hours.

GRAND FORKS – A first-grade teacher from Kelly Elementary is Grand Forks Public Schools’ Teacher of the Year. Emily Dawes was honored Wednesday afternoon at Kelly’s April student assembly.
