Not long ago, Elafonisi Beach was a well-kept secret amongst locals until 2014, when it was named one of the world’s top 25 beaches on TripAdvisor.
And naturally, Greece had a fantastic showing in this list, claiming five beaches, including Elafonisi Beach (93.34) and Ai Helis in Kefalonia (92.25) at No. 10.
Elafonisi Beach, Crete While most holidaymakers head to Crete to relax on its golden sands or visit some of the island's ancient sites, there's a lesser-known attraction that often goes unnoticed.
To get to the pink sand beach of Elafonisi from Chania takes around an hour and a half. Daily buses leave between 8am and 9am and return between 4pm and 5pm, according to travellers on TripAdvisor .
