Custer State Park is the largest of South Dakota's State Parks and was the 1st state park established. The park's history dates back to 1897, just eight years after South Dakota joined the Union.

The Game, Fish and Parks Commission voted recently to have an antelope hunting season in Custer State Park this fall.
