There is an amphibian in Florida that is so toxic it can kill your pet in minutes. Experts say new development in western communities is not helping the problem.

Cane toads in Florida secrete a milky-white toxin that can harm or even kill animals that lick, bite or eat them, including domestic pets.

The toads are currently found in central and south Florida, generally south of the I-4 corridor, the FWC said. The toads release a milky toxin that sticks in pets’ mouths.
