Throughout The Hunger Games, Cato acts as the main antagonist against Katniss. He is a leader of sorts for the Careers, devising plans for them, and ends up being the last of them to survive.

However, the hatred embedded into him growing up made him a thoroughly cruel person. In the 74th Hunger Games, it seems that Cato enjoys killing people, and he hunts them as a sport.
