Many plants attract butterflies, however, some provide better sources of nutrients than others. According to Garden Design, gardeners should select plants that will support the butterfly life cycle.

The blossoms of few plants – if any – are as alluring to butterflies and hummingbirds as those of pentas (P. lanceolata), a bushy, evergreen perennial.

Pentas would also be an excellent choice, particularly the Butterfly Pentas, another Louisiana Super Plants selection. They come in a variety of colors, including white, red, pink and purple.
