The six victims of the deadly plane collision near D.C., with connections to The Skating Club of Boston, would have likely been in Boston for the championships this week.

More than two dozen victims were tied to the figure skating community. Two coaches, two young figure skaters and their mothers killed in the plane crash were from The Skating Club of Boston.

The site of this week’s figure skating championships, Boston’s TD Garden, is the same arena in which American fans last month booed the Canadian national anthem during a U.S.-Canada hockey game.

This year’s World Championship in Boston, hits differently, as the U.S. Figure Skating community continues to mourn the lives of 28 people lost in their community.
