The holidays are quickly approaching, and Boston is getting ready to spread some cheer with the city's official Christmas tree lighting - a Boston tradition now in its 83rd year.
Boston's tree lighting ceremony on Boston Common is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 5, and the event will be broadcast during WCVB Channel 5's Holiday Lights special, which begins at 7 p.m.
