The Petroleum Tower at 550 Fannin St in downtown Beaumont has been "orange tagged" due to property maintenance issues, Kevin McGhee, a City of Beaumont spokesperson confirmed.

In the evening, the school hosted a moment of silence followed by the ringing of the Beaumont Tower bells. The tower, MSU Union and Berkey Hall were all lit in green.
