Auburn's basketball team is in the Final Four because Johni Broome has become one of the best players in program history.

It’s the second time in school history Auburn has reached the Final Four, the first coming in 2019. That season was two years before Cardwell arrived on campus, but it’s hard to be a part of the Auburn men’s basketball team without hearing about that group.

Now, those placements should be taken with a grain of salt since KenPom's ranking system isn't designed to compare teams across seasons; rather, those numbers suggest how great a team was against its peers within its own season.
