The Oscars are creating the category of Achievement in Stunt Design, beginning with the 100th Academy Awards for films released in 2027.

Category rules for eligibility and voting for the inaugural award will be announced in 2027. More than 100 stunt professionals are members of the Academy’s Production and Technology Branch.

Luckily the Academy has come to its senses, announcing that an Achievement in Stunt Design award will be added for the 100th Academy Awards in 2028. This means cars can finally win Oscars!
