Scientists create 4D bioprinted tissue that changes shape just like real tissues do - MSNA research team at the University of Galway has created a new way to 4D bioprint tissues that can change shape in a controlled way—just like real tissues do as they form.
Researchers at the University of Wollongong, Australia, have created a 3D printer-compatible hydrogel that is mechanically tough and able to repeatedly change shape in response to water temperature.

A recent study published in Advanced Materials introduced a 4D printing method to create tubular moisture-responsive actuators called meta biocomposites. These structures use continuous flax fiber ...
This capacity is known as the shape memory effect (SME), and it may occur in shape memory alloys (SMAs) and polymers (SMPs), but it is also feasible in shape memory hybrids (SMHs). Four-dimensional ...
Focusing on heart tissue, the study showed that cell-generated forces could guide the shape-morphing of bioprinted tissues. The Galway team also demonstrated that tweaking factors such as the initial ...
The customized robot, which costs roughly $30,000, was there to showcase the clothing company’s newest iteration of its 4D knit line—a dress that changes shape and style when exposed to high ...
