Yared Nuguse's world record in the indoor mile — the first U.S. world record on the track at that distance since the 1980s — lasted less than five days. Norway's Jakob Ingebrigtsen lowered the world record from Nuguse's 3:46.

Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigtsen has set a world record in the indoor mile, beating Yared Nuguse’s mark set just five days earlier at the Millrose Games.

While Nuguse picked up one world record, he lost an American record today. Grant Fisher shattered Nuguse’s American record for 3,000 meters indoors (7:28.23) with his world indoor 3,000 meter record of 7:22.91. Cole Hocker was right behind Fisher, too. But Nuguse is sure he could have been there with those guys.
