The Padres, looking to offload some salary and recoup some value, reportedly inquired about some top prospects in conversations surrounding Cease.

Trade rumors have swirled around San Diego Padres pitcher Dylan Cease for most of the offseason. The Orioles have been linked to Cease for virtually as long as he has been on the trade block. Jon Morosi from MLB Network reported back in December that the Orioles became interested in Cease as their hopes to sign pitcher Corbin Burnes decreased.

With pitchers and catchers set to report to spring training on Wednesday, there remains the possibility of the Mets adding one more arm. The pitcher is San Diego Padres right-hander Dylan Cease, who the Mets have been linked to for over a week.
