Three family members of the women killed Sunday afternoon at Richmond Road Baptist Church in Lexington recounted the chaotic scene in an interview with the Herald-Leader.
She told them her perfect day was a Sunday, going to church for 11 a.m. worship at Richmond Road Baptist Church, where her husband, Jerry, preached and her family had attended service for more than 40 years.
The day was interrupted when a man came on church property and shot four people, killing two women and injuring two men. The two women were identified as 72-year-old Beverly Gumm and 32-year-old Christina Combs. One man is in critical condition while the other is stable.
The assailant was fatally shot by police at a Lexington church, but not before shooting five people and killing two.
A series of shootings in Lexington left multiple people, including a police officer, injured. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear confirmed the sole suspect in the incident is dead. Emergency responders treated several victims at Richmond Road Baptist Church,
