The New York Mets can breathe a sigh of relief about Pete Alonso. After not starting Sunday’s series finale against the Cincinnati Reds because of a right-hand contusion, the slugging first baseman came on for defense in the seventh inning of the Mets’ eventual 3-2 victory to extend his consecutive games streak to 354.
However, New York could still add position player depth ahead of the July 31 MLB Trade Deadline. General manager David Stearns opened up about that possibility before Monday's bout with the Los Angeles Angels, via SNY.
