Rich Hill’s latest stint in MLB was short-lived. After making two starts for the Kansas City Royals since his call-up on July 21, the former Michigan pitcher was designated for assignment by the team on Tuesday. Kansas City was his 14th major league team, tying Edwin Jackson’s MLB record.

Atlanta won game one of the series, 10-7 as the offense was prevalent for both teams. Kansas City is now 5-5 since the All-Star break, while Atlanta is 3-7. The win for the Braves yesterday snapped a five-game losing streak.
The Royals announced that right-handed pitcher Seth Lugo agreed to a two-year contract extension, securing him through 2027 with a vesting option for the 2028 season. Lugo joined the Royals in 2024 and has since started in 52 games. He has a 2.98 ERA, or earned runs average. This is the lowest ERA in the Royals' 57-season history.
