The shooting death of Ole Miss freshman Corey Adams has rocked the tight-knit college football community, as the 18-year-old "didn't get to see his dream" fully realized, devastated mourners told Newsweek.

Mississippi freshman defensive lineman Corey Adams, a three-star recruit from New Orleans, was shot and killed Saturday night near Memphis, Tenn. He was 18.

Corey Adams' mother said the Ole Miss football freshman was pursuing his dream of playing in the NFL: "They took it from him."
