Hart and four of his 2018 World Junior teammates were accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a London, Ontario hotel in 2018. He will not face prison time and is currently an NHL free agent.

The NHL and NHLPA spoke on the eligibility of the five Hockey Canada defendants, including Carter Hart, who were found not guilty.

A Superior Court Justice said prosecutors could not meet the onus of proof for the charges against Michael McLeod, Carter Hart, Alex Formenton, Dillon Dube and Callan Foote.
