Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred is reportedly reviewing a petition to reinstate Pete Rose. Hopefully that review doesn't take very long and ends in a definitive "no," because the league absolutely does not need to reinstate Rose,

Pete Rose pleaded guilty in 1990 to felony charges of filing false tax returns and was barred from the baseball hall of fame.

Rose, who died last year at 83, was banned from baseball for life. He admitted in 2004 that he had bet on games, though never against his own team.
