We visited when Americus was celebrating their first community art walk-many interesting places were open. The Rylander can be reached at (229-931-0001). You might also want to contact the Americus-Sumter Tourism Welcome Center (229-928-6059) for local activitiies. It is adjacent to the Windsor Hotel (229-924-1555) which is also well worth a visit (We stayed there and loved it! It also has Amelia's Restaurant which I highly recommend). Also be sure to visit the Habitat for Humanity Global Village and do a stroll or drive by to see the beautiful local homes. We initially were just looking for somewhere to stay on our way to visit the Andersonville prison site and were truly amazed and thrilled with Americus.
