I didn’t do the volcano tour so I don’t know and the hot springs tour was included in the tour cost but I doubt that either costs much. You get out of your car into the hot springs for a soak and mud experience and can stay as long as you want, but I’d set aside about an hour including change room time. The springs are very hot but fun once you get in.
We are renting a car to drive to the hot springs from cruise port. Are we crazy to do so? We have 5 in our family and taxi's will be expensive. Dangerous to drive?

If you are comfortable driving on the opposite side of the road you will be fine. However, the roads are hilly and windy. We did it but made sure we were back before dark as they are not lit in most areas. Also, you will save a lot. Make sure to mention how many people is in your group as most cars are small. Well worth the drive
