The Gardens open at 10 am and it was quite quiet then with some buildings not opening till later. The MN Gallery is near Victoria Gate entrance. If you intend to visit the park and see most of it on foot (or train) you can find some parking near the Thames off Ferry Rd which costs £7 a day and enter via the Brentford gate. Plan your visit is a website we found useful.
