I didn't expect to get my feet wet hiking in the desert. This easy hike was unlike any other we experienced in Death Valley. The vegetation was beautiful.Full review by 80juanitawade

It was about 2 miles each way, so 4 miles total. It was a bit of a scrambling and a climb up a rock with a rope and also up a little ladder. The rope was a bit intense for our kids (6 & 9), but they can be less than adventurous at times. Other than that it, it was a nice trip. Maybe check with the rangers?

At the beginning of August, the road was in good condition, easily done by sedan but take it slow to save your tires.

Can a "regular" car make it to the trail head, without worrying about damaging the bottom of the car, or puncturing a tire...... or do we need to rent a Jeep Compass or similar type of vehicle with higher clearance and bigger tires? I have two dogs that love hikes. I’m trying to get an idea off of the reviews, if I’d be able to take them with me. Having to jump isn’t an issue, but just wondering if there’s anything too steep they won’t be able to get up?

There's a sign posted at the parking lot that specifically says no dogs. There are other areas in the park that allow dogs.
